The U7+ Student Forum 2024 was held in September 2024 and organized by École Polytechnique in collaboration with the U7+ Student & Alumni Network. The event brought together students from 18 universities across the U7+ Alliance network, including institutions from France, Canada, Italy, Japan, Germany, Ghana, Senegal, and the United States.
This fourth edition focused on “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”, aiming to explore how to maximize its benefits while mitigating its risks. The program was structured into four sessions, which included lectures by AI experts, workshops, and group discussions.
Students worked in teams to develop concrete recommendations on the responsible use of AI in universities. These recommendations were presented during the final session and will be submitted to the presidents of U7+ Alliance universities as a contribution to collective reflection on the future use of AI in higher education.
Key recommendations included:
Redesigning exams and assessments to integrate the use of AI while maintaining academic rigor;
Establishing clear and binding ethical guidelines for the use of AI in educational contexts;
Introducing mandatory or elective AI training, with a particular emphasis on ethics and responsibility in data science programs.
The forum provided students with an international platform to share perspectives and actively contribute to shaping AI governance in higher education within the U7+ framework.
