G7 Impact

In the framework of the 2026 French G7 Presidency, U7+ has been recognized as the official G7 engagement group "University U7+" representing higher education in G7 countries and beyond.

As an official Engagement Group, the U7+ Alliance carries a collective voice and works to strengthen the role of universities in global cooperation, evidence-based policymaking, and the preparation of future generations.

The U7+ Alliance is determined to have impact on the multilateral agenda through a Communiqué delivered every year to the G7 host government, echoing their priorities and the main challenges for universities worldwide.

U7+ has successfully engaged with G7 governments over recent years, consolidating its role as a key advocate for the contribution of universities to modern societies and as a platform for strengthening partnerships between governments and higher education institutions in addressing global challenges.

Seven years after its founding in Paris at the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron, the President of the French Republic welcomed members of the U7+ Presidential Steering Committee, gathered in Paris for the annual U7+ Presidential Summit, to a meeting at the Palais de Élysée, where he was presented with the U7+ Communiqué “The Social Role of Universities in a Divided World”
